Charging, fusing, control and distribution in one box

SavvyCore is the 12V and 230V distribution box everything in the van connects and talks to. Victron powered solar, mains and alternator charging, eight switched circuits, six high-current fused outputs and a SavvyVan 3.1 controller, all in one aluminium box. With a 7-inch screen and a full wiring loom. One box to mount, instead of a board full of separate parts.

As with any SavvyVan3, tank levels, heating, levelling and dimmable lighting each need their add-on, and a real battery percentage needs a SavvyShunt or a battery that reports itself. SavvyCore brings the charging and the circuits, and the add-ons talk to it just as they would to a SavvyVan3.

SavvyCore is sold to trade only - converters, dealers and installers with a SavvyVan trade account. Converting your own van? SavvyVan3 and its add-ons are the way in, and we are always happy to help you pick. See SavvyVan3

SavvyCore from above - a black aluminium box with the SavvyVan fuse panel, eight red blade fuses and a six-way fuse holder - with the 7-inch SavvyVan touch screen in front of it, showing the home screen with eight tiles.

How it sits in the van

The box everything talks to, usually close to the leisure battery, with a loom out to each thing it charges from and everything it powers.

SavvyVan's green pop-top campervan, faded so the wiring inside shows, with SavvyCore fitted at the back beside the leisure battery. Solar panels on the pop-top roof, a campsite hook-up and the vehicle battery in the engine bay all feed the box. Switched circuits run along the roof to an LED strip light on the ceiling inside and an LED awning light under the awning outside, and down to a water pump above an underslung water tank; fused outputs feed a fridge and a diesel heater; the AC breakers feed a 230V socket with a kettle beside it; a 7-inch SavvyVan screen sits on the wall inside the sliding door; and a Starlink dish stands on a mast at the back.

  1. Solar

Panels on the roof feed a 15A Victron MPPT charge controller inside the box.

  2. Hook-up

A 2m lead with a hook-up connector pre-wired comes in to the AC circuit breakers, which feed the sockets and a mains charger that charges the leisure battery whenever you are plugged in.

  3. The vehicle battery

A DC-DC charger tops the leisure battery up while you drive. The loom is 10m.

  4. The leisure battery

Sits close to the box, on a 2m loom.

  5. Eight switched circuits

Up to 10A each, fused, and switched from the screen. Each has a 7m loom.

  6. Six fused outputs

Up to 30A max each and not switched, for the things that stay on. The looms are 7m.

  7. The screen

A 7-inch SavvyVan touch screen, mounted on whichever wall suits the layout.

  8. 230V sockets

On hook-up, the same AC circuit breakers feed the van's 230V sockets, on a 7m loom.

What is inside

Three chargers, all Victron, each fitted at a sensible size and each upgradable if the van needs more.

The connection side of SavvyCore: two small plugs, a pair of AC circuit breakers and a stud on the left, and three multi-pin loom plugs above three high-current connectors on the right, with the fuse panel on the lid behind.

The looms plug straight in

The loom connectors and the AC breakers are on the side of the box, and the fuses are on top, where you can get at them without taking anything apart.

Charging

Charges from Fitted Upgrade to
Solar - Victron MPPT charge controller 15A 20A or 30A

We can also supply the loom customised to suit the van - different lengths, or made up for its own layout. Get in touch and tell us what you need.

  • SavvyVan 3.1 controller

The brains, with fuse monitoring on every switched circuit.

  • 7-inch touch screen

The same SavvyVan screen, running every circuit and add-on.

  • Eight switched circuits

10A each, individually fused, switched from the screen.

  • Six high-current fused outputs

Up to 30A max each. Not switched, so a fridge or a heater keeps its supply.

  • AC circuit breakers

Two 16A double-pole RCBOs, one on the hook-up input and one on the distribution. On hook-up they feed the 230V sockets and the mains charger that charges the battery.

  • Battery and charger isolators

One isolates the battery and one isolates the chargers, so the whole van can be switched off - for storage, or before anybody works on it.

  • Emergency overrides

If the screen ever fails, you can still switch the circuits on.

  • The full wiring loom

Every run the box needs - both batteries, the solar, the switched circuits, the fused outputs and the mains in and out - in standard lengths, or supplied customised to suit the van.

It tells you which fuse has gone

The SavvyVan 3.1 inside watches the fuse on each of the eight switched circuits. Open Fuse Monitor from the side menu and every circuit is listed by its tile name, with OK or Blown beside it - and if a fuse blows on a circuit that is switched on, the screen wakes and opens it for you. So when a light stops working, the screen tells you whether to reach for a fuse or look somewhere else.

Record each fuse's rating as you set the tiles up, and the monitor shows which fuse belongs where.

The SavvyVan screen with Fuse Monitor open over the home page: eight rows, each showing the fuse fitted - 10A, 7.5A, 5A, 2A, 5A, 3A, 1A and 4A - beside its tile name. Water Pump reads Blown with a red dot, and the other seven read OK in green. A Close button sits underneath.

Everything a SavvyVan does

The controller inside is a SavvyVan 3.1, running the same software as every SavvyVan3 - so the screen, the app and the add-ons are the ones you may already know, and new features keep arriving as software updates.

  • Every circuit on its own tile

Eight switched circuits, each on a tile named for what it runs and switched with a tap. A swipe from the home screen goes straight to the screen you use most.

  • The battery at a glance

Battery voltage on the home screen as standard. Add a SavvyShunt, or fit one of eight batteries it reads directly, for a real state of charge.

  • Water and gas

With SavvyTanks, fresh, grey and black tank levels on the screen, plus underslung LPG with gas solenoid control built in.

  • Heating

With the Propex or Autoterm module, or a Kartt diesel heater paired straight to the panel, the heater runs from the screen: schedules, timers and faults in plain English.

  • Levelling

With SavvyStance, see how the van is sitting, which wheel to lift and by how much.

  • Dimmable lighting

With SavvyLights, eight dimmable channels and scenes you save once and bring back with a tap.

  • Rules that run the van

When it turns cold, a voltage drops, a tile is switched or the clock reaches a time, the panel switches a tile, beeps or puts up a message. Battery, tank, heater and light rules need the add-on for each.

  • The phone app

The SavvyVan app shows the van on your phone, free on iPhone and Android. Switching from it comes with SavvyVan Pro.

  • A second screen

With a SavvyDot, up to five of your controls on a small round touch screen, fixed in place or lifted off its charging plate.

  • Weather, clock and updates

On WiFi the screen keeps the time, shows the local forecast and inside and outside temperature, and takes software updates as they come.

  • Starlink

With a Starlink dish on the same network, its status shows on the screen - no module needed.

  • Your name on the screen

Ship it with your own logo on the screen and a business page built in - a business card in every van you sell.
