What we have been up to

Product updates, shows, new integrations, and the occasional van makeover. This is the archive from 2024 onwards - dates are on every entry, so it is obvious what is history and what is current.

The SavvyDot

11 October 2026

Product update

A small round touch screen that brings up to five things from your panel to wherever you want them: a tile, and - where your van has what each one needs - a tank, a light or a scene, the heater, the van’s level or the battery’s charge. A tap switches the ones that switch. It charges over USB-C, fixed in place or on a charging plate you can lift it off, and your installer sets it up. Meet the SavvyDot.

A SavvyDot beside its empty charging plate. The dot's round screen shows the van's battery at 87%, 13.2V and 4.1A; the plate is a curved black cradle with two screw holes and a USB-C contact at the bottom

The mirrored screen, a very limited edition

11 October 2026

Product update

The 7-inch SavvyVan3 screen, behind a mirror. Switched off, it is a mirror on the wall; switch it on and the panel shows straight through it. Only a small number have been made - choose it as your screen while they last.

The mirrored SavvyVan3 screen on a wood-panelled van wall above a socket and a heater controller, shown twice: switched off it is a mirror reflecting the seats and kitchen, and switched on the panel's home screen shows through it

Heating from your phone

11 October 2026

Product update

With a Propex or Autoterm add-on and SavvyVan Pro, the SavvyVan app sets the temperature and starts the heater from wherever you are. Started from the phone, it runs for two hours and then the van switches it off - unless you choose Keep running past 2 hours as you start it. More about the app.

SavvyCore and SavvyVan 3.1, for trade

11 October 2026

Product update

Two new products for converters and installers. SavvyCore is the main box everything in the van talks to: solar, mains and alternator charging, eight switched circuits, six high-current fused outputs and a SavvyVan 3.1 controller in one aluminium box, with a 7-inch screen and a full wiring loom. SavvyVan 3.1 puts a fuse on every circuit, and a Fuse Monitor on the screen that lists each one as OK or Blown - and opens by itself if a fuse on a switched-on circuit blows. Both are sold to trade: SavvyCore and SavvyVan 3.1.

Panel software 2.5.1

11 October 2026

Product update

Logic rules can now watch the time of day, a temperature, a voltage, the battery, a tank or the heater, do up to three things at once - switch tiles, lights, the heater or the gas, beep, or put a message on the screen - and wait first if you want them to. Most of those need the equipment that measures or runs them, and a rule that opens the gas needs care. A swipe from the home screen goes straight to the screen you use most.

The panel now runs Kartt heaters and reads Victron SmartSolar chargers over wireless, with no module of ours. New panels open a new battery page, the voltage dials have a new look, Get Help brings Remote Support while you are on the phone to us, WiFi reconnects by itself, and updates show their progress as they go. For trade, the Motor Driver opens and closes an awning, a step or a bed with a tap. Everything in 2.5.1.

The SavvyVan3 Edit Rule card: WHEN Type Temperature, Sensor Inside goes below 3°C, THEN Module SavvyVan, Tile no. 5 is on, Delay Off, with Add Condition, Add Action, Cancel and Save buttons

Panel software 2.4.5: Autoterm levels follow the set temperature

October 2026

Product update

An Autoterm on a level from 1 to 10 now follows the temperature you set, resting until the van cools, and settings are saved the moment you make them. Everything in 2.4.5.

The SavvyVan3 Autoterm screen: a 20°C target on the dial with up and down arrows, 22.2°C inside the van, and the schedule clock top right

The app is on the App Store

14 September 2026

Product update

The SavvyVan app is on the App Store for iPhone as well as Google Play for Android. Viewing your van is free; switching things from the phone is SavvyVan Pro. More about the app.

Back at Shepton Mallet

13 September 2026

A brilliant weekend at the South West Motorhome & Campervan Show, at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet. We had the screens out on pitch 146 and the phone app there to try, and it was lovely to catch up with so many familiar faces - and to spot SavvyVan3 panels in some incredible builds around the showground. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello.

Missed us? We will be at the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham in October.

A 4G router for the van

3 September 2026

Product update

The panel needs an internet connection before the app can reach it from anywhere but the driveway. The TP-Link wireless 4G LTE router mounts inside or outside the van, takes an ordinary data SIM, and gives the panel - and everything else on board - a connection of its own. See it with the accessories.

Panel software 2.4.4: Autoterm Air 4D heaters

September 2026

Product update

Autoterm Air 4D heaters are supported alongside the Air 2D, and the panel works out which one it is connected to on its own. Wireless modules reconnect more smartly, new modules appear in the list as they come within range, and SavvyShunt battery history is quicker. Everything in 2.4.4.

Panel software 2.4.0: electric-only Propex heaters

September 2026

Product update

Electric-only Propex heaters can now be run from the panel. Batteries locked with a PIN are unlocked on the panel itself the first time they pair, and WiFi on a mesh network hands over between access points in under a second. Everything in 2.4.0.

Camperversions fit SavvyVan to their T7s

27 August 2026

Camperversions, in Blackburn, fit SavvyVan panels to many of the T7 campervans they have in stock, and they gave us a lovely mention on their own page to say so. Thank you - and if you are shopping for a ready-built camper, their range is worth a look.

Richard’s van at the VanLife festival

25 August 2026

At the VanLife festival we caught up with Richard - Indi_van_a_jones on YouTube and Instagram - who talked us through what he loves about having SavvyVan in his build. Thanks for taking the time to chat, Richard, and for showing us round the van.

A day with Fogstar

19 August 2026

We spent the day with the team at Fogstar, looking at where both of us are heading next and how a Fogstar battery and a SavvyVan panel can work even better together.

A few of you had been in touch about connecting a Fogstar battery that is locked with a passcode, so we tested that together too. Since software 2.4.0 the panel asks for a locked battery’s PIN when you pair it and remembers it from then on - there is no need to clear it in the Fogstar app first. The Fogstar guide has the details.

Interviewed by Staycation Lifestyle

16 August 2026

Simon sat down with Staycation Lifestyle to go through what the panel and its modules do, how it wires in on a DIY build, and how SavvyVan started out on a dining room table. Thank you for having us.

Working with SplitCharge

21 July 2026

We are pleased to be working alongside SplitCharge, who supply and fit electrical systems for motorhomes, campervans and off-grid setups - batteries, inverters, solar, the lot. If your van is running an older control system, they can bring it up to date with a SavvyVan. Thanks, Sam.

Three days on stand 114 at the East Midlands Motorhome & Campervan Show, at Newark Showground. It was great to hear about so many builds and so many plans. Thank you to everyone who stopped by - and if you are still wondering whether SavvyVan3 is the missing piece in your van, get in touch.

VanLife Festival in Shrewsbury

2 June 2026

A busy weekend at VanLife Festival, at the West Midlands Showground from 29 to 31 May. Between us, Druid Vans and SolarGo2 we could barely move, and plenty of you took a look round our own van to see a SavvyVan working in it. Thank you to everyone who came to chat about their builds and road trips.

20 May 2026

Out and About Campers announced the OAAC app, their own app for the campervans they build, powered by SavvyVan and launching in summer 2026. It puts the battery, water and lighting on the owner’s phone. If you are a converter and would like one of your own, see your own app.

Panel software 2.3.11 and 2.3.12: a new keyboard and WiFi page

May 2026

Product update

A new keyboard, gradient buttons and an improved top bar. The WiFi page is new too, with search, signal strength as it scans and proper feedback when you join a network, and you can set the screen timeout yourself. Updates now tell you when there is a new version. Everything in 2.3.11 and 2.3.12.

Five years since the first prototype

11 April 2026

This photo is five years old. It is the very first SavvyVan prototype, which never went on sale - just an idea, and a question of whether it would ever become anything. It did, and we could not have got here without everyone who followed along, sent us feedback and cheered us on before we had even launched. Thank you.

The NEC in February, and a first look at the app

23 February 2026

A week in Hall 5 at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC, 17 to 22 February - and the first time anybody outside the office saw the SavvyVan phone app, running live on the stand. It is out now.

It was brilliant to catch up with converters fitting SavvyVan to their builds, among them Bespoke Leisure, Hillside Leisure, York Campervans and Out and About Campers, and with Roamer, whose batteries the panel reads directly. Thank you to every single person who came to say hello.

Earlier in the month, Matt gave SavvyVan his Motorhome Matt Approved mark, which means a great deal coming from one of the most trusted voices in the motorhome world. Thank you, Matt.

The Integration Station

11 July 2024

At VW Festival we set up what we christened the Integration Station - Roamer, LithiumPro, Fogstar, Teconnex and Pundmann all running together on one panel, so you could see the integrations rather than take our word for them.

Integrations announced during 2024

Product update

A run of partnerships, most of which now have proper guides of their own:

  • Fogstar batteries - the panel reads the battery directly, which removes the need for a shunt. Guide
  • Teconnex Energy batteries - same again, direct connection, no shunt. Guide
  • LithiumPro batteries - works out of the box. Guide
  • Sargent EC50 and EC51 - an adapter board that replaces the Sargent control panel and takes over the wiring kit. Guide
  • BCA / PowerPart - an adapter board that replaces the Seattle control panel. Guide
  • Pundmann 12V and 230V water heaters - schedule hot water and dump excess solar charge into it. Guide
  • Propex underslung gas tanks - read the gas level and open the solenoid from inside, rather than climbing under the van. Guide

Shows we exhibited at in 2024

VW Festival at Harewood House in Leeds, the Warners South West show at Shepton Mallet, Warners at Lincoln, and the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show in October with Kartt and Pundmann.

We like doing these. Watching somebody use the panel for thirty seconds tells us more than a month of thinking about it.
