What is covered

The warranty covers the hardware you bought from SavvyVan LTD and the software running on it, for products bought new - from us, or from one of our trade customers such as an installer or a van converter. It runs for 12 months from the date we dispatched it.

On a SavvyVan3 panel it extends to 24 months if you register the panel inside that first year, and registering is free. Everything else we make - the add-ons, accessories and the SavvyVan Lite v2.1 - carries the standard 12 months.

If your unit sat with a converter or a dealer for a while before it reached you, tell us when you bought it and we will look at running the cover from that date instead. It is your device, and the clock should be fair.

Hardware

We repair or replace, free of charge, any product or part that turns out to be defective in materials or workmanship under normal use and maintenance.

Software

We cover defects in our software that stop it doing what the documentation says it does. Usually that means a fix in the next release, and we will help you get there.

If you bought it second-hand

The cover goes with the unit, for whatever is left of it. Our records know when each serial number left us, so the serial stands in for the original receipt.

Where it applies

Wherever you are. It is a return-to-base warranty, so the unit comes back to us in Leeds to be repaired. Outside the UK, the postage to us is yours, and so are any import duty or local charges on the way to us or back, as they are on an order.

What is not covered

Said plainly, so there are no surprises at the point you need it:

  • Misuse, accidents or unauthorised modification.
  • Damage caused by incorrect installation.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Consumable parts - water senders, valves and the like - unless a defect in materials or workmanship damaged them.
  • Damage from natural events such as floods, storms or earthquakes.
  • Other equipment connected to it - your battery, heater, charger and so on. That is covered by whoever made it.
  • Removing and refitting it - the labour to take the unit out of your van and put it back. The warranty pays for the repair or replacement, and the postage below.

This does not affect your statutory rights. If a fault means a fitted unit has to come out, contact us before any work is booked, so we can agree the most practical way to do it - usually a tested replacement sent in advance, so the swap is done in one visit.

Three worth repeating from the installation guide, because all three are avoidable:

Things we sell but did not make

The Pundmann water heaters, the TP-Link 4G router and a few other items in our shop are made by somebody else. This warranty does not cover them - they carry their maker’s own, and Pundmann’s runs for three years.

But you bought them from us, so come to us first. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are with the business that sold you something, not with whoever made it. Tell us what is wrong and we will sort it out, or take it up with the maker for you.

Software warranty exclusions

  • Software modified without our authorisation.
  • Problems caused by third-party software or hardware.
  • Versions that are not the latest available - so update first, and if the problem survives that, tell us.

How to claim

  1. Get in touch at support@savvyvan.com with your serial number, your proof of purchase or order reference, and a description of the fault. The more specific, the faster this goes.
  2. Send us what helps us see it. If the panel starts, tap Send log files on the passcode screen. A couple of photos of the installation - where it is fitted, and the wiring at the control board - often settle in a minute what would otherwise take several emails.
  3. Wait for your return reference before posting anything, and write it on the parcel. A parcel without one cannot be matched to anybody - the returns page explains why.
  4. Note your settings. A repair can mean resetting the unit to its factory settings, so write down anything you would not want to set up again.
  5. We repair or replace it and send it back, at our cost.

Claims under this warranty need to be made inside the warranty period. Your statutory rights are separate, and are not limited to it.

Who pays the postage

  • In the first six months, in the UK: we pay both ways. Ask us for a label before you post it, rather than being out of pocket.
  • After six months, in the UK: you pay to send it to us, and we pay to send it back.
  • Outside the UK: getting it to us is yours at any point, and we pay to send it back.

None of this changes your statutory rights. If you can show a unit was faulty when you got it, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 puts the cost of getting it to us on us, whenever and wherever that is - tell us, and we will refund it.

If we find nothing wrong, or it is not covered

We tell you what we found before doing anything else. If the fault is not one the warranty covers, we quote for the repair first and do nothing without your go-ahead. If you would rather have it back as it is, the postage home is yours.

General terms

Your legal rights are not affected. This warranty is offered on top of the rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 - including the right to a repair, a replacement or a refund if goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose. Nothing on this page reduces those rights, and they apply whether or not you register the device.

What we are responsible for. If we fail to keep to this warranty, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that, meaning it was obvious it would happen, or we both knew it might when you bought the product. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.

What we never limit. Nothing on this page excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for a defective product under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, for breaking your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Business use. If you use the product for a business, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity. If you bought it as a business, our trade terms apply and take precedence over this page.

Governing law. This warranty is governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you can bring proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts, and if you live in Northern Ireland, in either the Northern Irish or the English courts. If you live outside the UK, the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in still protects you.

Questions people ask

Does registering really double it?
On a SavvyVan3 panel, yes, and it costs nothing. Register it inside the first 12 months and the panel's cover runs to 24 months.
Do add-ons get the second year too?
No - the extra year is for the SavvyVan3 panel only. Add-ons such as SavvyTanks, SavvyShunt, SavvyStance, SavvyLights and the heater modules carry the standard 12 months, and there is nothing to register for them.
Who pays the postage?
In the UK, we pay both ways for the first six months, and after that you pay to send it to us and we pay to send it back. Outside the UK, getting it to us is always yours. Either way, ask us before you post it.
Will the warranty pay to take it out of the van and refit it?
No - the warranty pays for the repair or replacement and the postage, not the labour to remove the unit or fit it again. This does not affect your statutory rights. If a fitted unit does need to come out, talk to us before any work is booked and we will agree the most practical way to do it - usually a tested replacement sent in advance, so the swap is done in one visit.
I bought it second-hand. Am I covered?
Yes, for whatever is left of the cover. It goes with the unit, and our records know when each serial number left us, so the serial is enough.
What happens if you find nothing wrong?
We tell you what we found before doing anything else. If the fault is not one the warranty covers, we quote first and do nothing without your go-ahead. If you would rather have it back as it is, the postage home is yours.
Are the water probes covered?
Consumable parts such as water senders and valves are not covered on their own, unless a defect in materials or workmanship damaged them. Your statutory rights still apply if one fails early.

Stuck on any of this? Get in touch - we would rather help than have you guess.
