What SavvyVan works with

Most vans already have something in them - a Sargent unit, a Propex heater, a battery with a mind of its own. Integration is most of what we do, so here is the honest list: what we talk to, what happens when we do, and where the instructions are.

Not on the list? Ask us. Some systems work and simply have not been written up yet, and we would rather tell you straight than have you find out after it arrives.

Batteries that need no shunt at all

These talk to the panel directly over wireless. State of charge, current and voltage come straight from the battery, saving you a shunt and one more thing to wire. One battery source per van, either way.

  • Fogstar

    Direct, over wireless

    The panel reads the battery itself - state of charge, current and voltage - so there is no shunt to buy or fit. If the pack is locked with a PIN, the panel asks for it and remembers it; there is no need to remove the password first.

Wiring kits and power systems

We do not make wiring kits - we stick to control and integration. If your van already has one of these, there is a version of SavvyVan3 that replaces its control panel and uses the loom already there.

  • Sargent

    Plug-and-play panel replacement

    A version of SavvyVan3 built for Sargent looms replaces the EC50 or EC51 panel and works alongside the EC155 power supply you already have. It connects by RJ45, takes over four switching circuits, and reads your existing Sargent water sender.

    The Sargent grey waste indicator is the one thing we cannot bring across. If your loom has been modified, talk to us before ordering.

  • CBE

    Plug-and-play panel replacement

    A version of SavvyVan3 built for CBE looms replaces the PC180 or PC210 panel and works alongside the CBE power unit. It connects by the 16-way plug and takes over three switching circuits. It reads the CBE water probe already in the van - CBE_PC100 as standard, CBE_PC200 on request.

    New temperature sensors come with it - the existing CBE ones are not used.

  • BCA / PowerPart

    Plug-and-play panel replacement

    A version of SavvyVan3 that replaces the Seattle panel and works alongside the BCA power unit, using the BCA plugs already in the van. It takes over four switching circuits, and water levels are read from pressure with automatic or manual calibration.

Heaters

Both work through a small wireless add-on that uses the connections already on the heater.

  • Propex

    Wireless add-on

    The SavvyPropex add-on replaces the analogue Propex controller, across the LPG and dual-fuel heater range. Temperature, schedules, timers and named faults on the panel - plus LPG level and solenoid control in the same place. Developed with Propex Heat Source and Gastore.

  • Autoterm

    Wireless add-on

    The Autoterm add-on brings a 2D or 4D heater onto the panel, with schedules, timers, readable fault information and an Auto Heat mode that keeps adjusting the output rather than holding one fixed setting.

Water heaters

Driven from one of the eight switches rather than a wireless module.

  • Pundmann

    One switch and a relay

    A Pundmann water heater runs from one of the eight switches through an external high-current relay, with the heater probe wired into the temperature terminals. Set that switch’s advanced option to Water Heater in Tile Configuration and the panel does the rest - scheduling, charge overflow and low-battery protection.

  • Bobil

    One switch and a relay

    A Bobil water heater runs from one of the eight switches through an external high-current relay, with the heater probe wired into the temperature terminals. Set that switch’s advanced option to Water Heater in Tile Configuration and the panel does the rest - scheduling, charge overflow and low-battery protection.

    We do not sell the Bobil heater itself, only the relay it switches through. Water Heater is a tile type rather than a brand, so a resistive heater from anyone else works the same way.

Internet in the van

The panel joins your own network like any other device, so if the kit providing it reports on itself, we put that on the screen too. Nothing to wire, nothing to buy from us.

  • Starlink

    Over your own network

    If you travel with a Starlink dish, the panel shows you what it is doing - whether it is connected, how long it has been up, whether anything is in the way, and how much data you have got through. It reads the dish over the van’s own network rather than pairing with it, so there is nothing to wire and nothing to buy. It is read-only: the panel never changes a Starlink setting.

    It ships switched off, so a van with no dish is not carrying a menu entry that does nothing. Turn it on in Installer Settings, then Additional Settings, then Enable Starlink Menu - after which Starlink appears in the side menu at the top left. SavvyVan is not affiliated with or endorsed by Starlink or SpaceX.

Underslung LPG tanks

Level monitoring and solenoid control, through SavvyTanks.

  • Gasit

    Through SavvyTanks

    Underslung LPG level on the screen, and the gas solenoid opened or isolated with a tap. Tested with Gasit tanks.

  • Propex underslung tanks

    Through SavvyTanks

    Underslung LPG level on the screen beside the water, with the solenoid opened and shut from the same page. The sender wires into the SavvyTanks gas terminals and the solenoid into its own - no calibration, and it is not polarity sensitive.

    Propex make the heater as well as the tank, and they are separate things here: the heater needs the SavvyPropex add-on, the tank needs SavvyTanks. A van with both uses one of each.

Inverters

Driven from one of the eight switches, through the inverter's own remote on/off connector. The panel turns it on and off, and reads nothing back.

  • Victron MultiPlus-II

    One switch, no relay

    A Victron MultiPlus-II has a Remote On/Off connector with a short wire link across it. Take the link out, wire those two terminals to COM and NO on one of the eight switches, and the inverter/charger turns on and off from a tile on the main screen - with the Victron logo on it, if you like. Two wires, and nothing to buy.

    The panel switches it and does not read it, so there are no watts, charge state or faults on the screen. Off means the whole unit, charger included, and like every tile it comes back off after the panel loses power. SavvyVan is not affiliated with or endorsed by Victron Energy.

One source of battery data, not several

Whichever route you take - a SavvyShunt, or a battery that reports itself - the panel uses one source. Not both, and not several. It keeps the numbers honest, and it means you only ever buy the part you actually need.
