Know what your battery is doing
A shunt sits between your battery negative and the rest of the van, and counts every amp in and out. That is what turns a voltage reading into a real percentage - plus live usage, history, and how long you have got left.

A percentage you can trust
Tell it your battery capacity and it counts the amps in and out four times a second, so the figure on screen is measured rather than guessed at from voltage. Works with lithium, AGM and lead acid, on 12V or 24V.

See what is going in and what is coming out at any moment - useful for working out which appliance is quietly eating your battery.

Time left, at the rate you are using it
Charging or discharging, it works out how long you have got at the current rate. A month of history sits behind it, by day, week or month, so you can see the pattern rather than just today - which is how you find the thing quietly draining the battery overnight.

The shunt must be the only thing connected to your battery negative - every load and every charger moves to the other side of it. Get that right and the readings are accurate; get it wrong and they are not.

One battery source per van
A system uses either one SavvyShunt or one direct connection to a battery that talks to us - never both, and never several. If you already have a Fogstar, Roamer, LithiumPro, Teconnex, Skyenergi, TN Power, Titan or Koven battery, the panel reads it directly and you do not need a shunt at all. We would rather tell you that than sell you one.
Setting the capacity
Batteries do not like being emptied, and how far you can safely go depends on the chemistry. We suggest setting the usable capacity to 80% for lithium, 60% for AGM and 50% for lead acid of the total - that way the percentage on screen reflects what you can actually use.
If you have a SavvyVan Lite
Good news - SavvyShunt works with the SavvyVan Lite v2.1 panel as well as SavvyVan3, so there is no need to change panels to add one. On a Lite it shows up in the pairing list as BK-Batmon rather than SavvyShunt - same device, add it as normal. The installation guide is written around SavvyVan3’s screens; if pairing looks different on your Lite, ask us and we will talk you through it.
